I would like to welcome you to the Department of Business and hope that you will choose to study with us in the near future.
The most important aspect of any college career is the interaction you have with lecturers and fellow students. The lecturers in the Department of Business are highly qualified and have extensive lecturing and industry experience. This results in the clear delivery of theoretical aspects of the programmes in a manner which is applicable to the real world. Small class size, emphasis on group work, and continuous assessment in each module, together with a student focused environment, enhance the learning experience. This is complemented by the cultural diversity of the student body, with over 60 nationalities represented at American College Dublin.
Over 40% of the Department of Business’s graduates have progressed to master’s or professional equivalents since 2000, which is above the national average (HEA’s Preliminary Findings of the First Destinations of Award Recipients, 2005). Furthermore, as a direct consequence of the College’s internship module, students have secured full-time positions with companies such as Arvato, Bank of Ireland, Canada Life, CIT Aerospace, Citigroup, Dell, Ernst and Young, Facebook, Google, JP Morgan, Sunday Business Post and Ulster Bank. The strengths of the College’s graduates are not only their ability to think independently and innovatively, but also to report and present their findings and analysis in a professional manner.
In the summer of 2011 the Department of Business’s HETAC-accredited programmes completed successfully their five-yearly programmatic review, thus reaffirming their accreditation for the next five years. In the intervening years the department expects further development of new programmes at the graduate and post-graduate level to reflect the dynamic business environment. Our International Business Ethics module was one of the first to be delivered in Ireland, as were those in Sustainable Business and International Entrepreneurship.
